The Lateral Pull Through Technique

The Lateral Pull Through technique is an alternative to treatment of the large majority of patients with gynecomastia. In my experience it routinely includes traditional liposuction, ultrasonic assisted liposuction and direct excision all through a quarter inch incision placed on the side of the chest. It avoids the use of a lower peri areolar scar. Not that there is anything wrong with a peri areolar scar, for in fact the vast majority of surgeons still use them today.

Gynecomastia with Dr. Robert Wilcox

Gynecomastia is a very important part of our practice that I enjoy doing. Gyneco means woman-like, and mastia means breast or chest. So it's a woman-like breast. On a man that means not just necessarily obesity but also the glandular tissue that comes along with it which is the hard fibrous area that you can actually feel under the nipple and the aerola. We see many young men who get it with the onset of puberty, and then we see many men in their 20s, 30s, and 40s who have no antecedent cause for this.

Men Suffer from Breast Size Issues Too

A condition little talked about but widely apparent is gynecomastia, the overdevelopment of the male breast. A reaction to too much estrogen or too little testosterone, gynecomastia can occur in newborns, teenagers, and adult men.

The Risperdal Controversy Continues...

The study was regarding the side effects for current users of the anti-psychotic drug, Risperdal or the generic equivalent, risperidone. The results of the study showed men were 5 times more likely to develop gynecomastia than those who did not take the drug.
