You can begin to lift weights again at roughly 3-4 weeks after surgery.  You should check with your surgeon first to make sure it is OK to do so.  The 3-4 week layoff will put you back a little bit -- but you should recover your full strength in a short time after resuming weight training.

Every surgeon has his favorite type of compression garment -- the important thing, though, is to wear it firmly for at least 3-4 weeks after surgery.  After that, you can wear a firm T-shirt, such as UnderArmour, etc.

Most "early" healing takes about one month.  Full and complete healing is very individual -- it may take 4-6 months and I have had patients tell me at 8 months that things are still improving.  You will have to be patient!
