6 days post op panic
« on: July 14, 2013, 06:12:06 AM »
Dear all,
I am 6 days post op and am trying to be patient and not to panic, but after taking off my vest yesterday for the first time I am a little afraid of how my chest looks like.

I was already very red and blue after the op from what I glanced, but it looks like there is still way too much fat left and also I am a bit concerned about the dark red parts. Should I massage them or put a warm compresse on it or something similar?

I have attached a photo, maybe you could give feedback if this looks normal or ifI need to do something here.

Anybody who can give me some hints (especially regarding the dark red parts)?

This is a pretty intense picture. A pre-op picture would be interesting to see, it seems that your surgeon did not do the excision via the nipple..

I would Suggest you post in the "Ask A Doctor" section.

The photo is distorted.  We really need a true frontal view and both sides.

Bruising can be all colors of the rainbow -- red, purple, green, gray, yellow, etc.  That is not worrisome at all -- it will disappear in time.

What is of more concern is whether you have asymmetric swelling, which may indicate a fluid/blood collection, which should be brought to your surgeon's attention.
