Estradiol level
« on: September 01, 2005, 06:03:51 AM »
Hi Everyone,
I have recently had a blood test for Estradiol.
I understand that for men normal levels should be no more than 220 pmol/L
My result was 245 pmol/L
I believe that converts to approx 66.74 pg/ml and normal male levels should be between 10 and 60 pg/ml
Please correct me if any of my conversions are wrong.
Anyway, the specialist put my higher levels down to smoking and I was advised to stop (obviously) and other than that I was told not to worry about it.
I suppose NORMAL levels don't always mean OPTIMUM levels.
What do you think, should I be concerned?
I would appreciate your comments and any advice you might have for me.
Thanks.

Dave

Your Estrogen E2 should be in the lower half of the "normal" Range.

Your testosterone should be in the upper halh of the "normal range.

There are several reasons for high E2, estradiol.

Your body may produce it naturally, mine does.  My body produces little testosterone & much estrogen because of Klinefelters Mosaic syndrome.  Without meds my body thinks it is female & for the last 10 years it produces hormones in that manner.

I use HRT to increase my testosterone & also to reduce estrogen E2.

If you are fat, it may convert testosterone to estrogen.

You may have a tumor, that can cause it.

Too high testosterone can convert to estrogen.

Steroids can also cause it.

Other reasons can produce E2.  It can be controlled

Dave,

Go back and read the above again and again!

What is Klienfelter Mosaic. I have most of the KS symptons to a slight degree, but doctors in looking at me, but no karotyping, have dismissed KS. Is it like KS minor?
