Hey guys.

When i was about 12 i realised my nips were probably a bit bigger than normal. Had some mates point it out, and have never had my top off infront of people since. When i was 18 i heard about 'Gyne' and kinda assumed thats what it is. Kinda got me down for a quite a while, and i've never been confident with my appearance. Still not been 'intimate' with anyone, cos i'm too ashamed, and scared of being laughed at. Decided that i should probably wait it out (til puberty was well and truly over). On my 19th birthday, i decided that i'd do my damn best to diet, and excercise regularly to get rid of it, and that if it hadn't gone by the time i turn 20, i'll go to the doctors and explain the situation.

Well, i turned 20 a few weeks ago, and no luck. My first opointment with a doctor is tomorrow, and i'm quite nervous. She'll be the first person in 8 years to see my chest.

Here are a few pics. I just want to be 100% sure that it is Gyne, before i go to the doc's. Any comments would be helpful.

Thanx very much.

Tybo

I'm hoping to get anything i can done on the NHS (i'm in the UK).

I've seen other pics on here, and mine arent quite like everyone else. i dont have man-boobs, i just have huge nipples, which i hate. theres no tip either, they're completely rounded.

Ta for your advice. I've talked with my mum about it, just to keep her up to date, and he's happy with whatever i do to get rid of them.

Well, i went to my doctors, and saw a fantastic nurse, who was so so helpful, and nice about it all. Sent me away for some blood tests.

Went back in today, for the results of the blood tests, and they all came back normal, so she has referred me to a specialist and surgical consult. I'm dead happy about it. Cant wait to get them lopped off!

Went to see a surgical consultant today and had it properly confirmed. He got me to take my top off like I expected, but then he made me take my trousers off and had a good ol' feel down there too! :o Wasnt expecting that, but he explained why

Anyway, he kinda pissed me off, because he told me that yes, surgery would be the best way to go, BUT in the UK, the surgery ISNT done by the NHS (it banned), and i'd have to go private  :-[ Is this definitely true?

There was a big shake up recently on the NHS and a cut down on expenditure for 'cosmetic' procedures.

You will need to convince your local Primary Care Trust you are a worthy cause,  by way of a letter from your GP, explaining how much of a psychological problem it is for you and how detrimental it's proving to be on your normal day to day life.....

Then hope for the best.  ::)

This type of procedure certainly isn't banned!! Each case will be dealt with on it's own merit.

If youve got the money Id just get the surgery done now. I didnt want to pay 4 or 5 grand for a uk surgeon so I had mine done in spain for 2500 and Im really happy with the whole thing.

The NHS is a real lottery and I spent 18 months jumping through their hoops before I gave up, the surgeons they gave me to speak to didnt exactly fill me with confidence either. It just depends I guess, if youre not desperate and you dont mind the embarrassment and inconvenience of attempting to persuade the NHS to do it then Id give it 6-8 months, but if they havent come good by then you really need to have a back up plan for going private.

The NHS is great for GP's and getting free drugs but personally every single person I know who has needed surgery for chronic but non life threatening conditions has been badly let down by the national health service.
